Something's Always Happening in Downtown New Baltimore
Downtown New Baltimore doesn't slow down when the season changes it just changes clothes. Sitting right on Anchor Bay with a walkable Main Street, free parking, and easy access off I-94, downtown is an easy day trip and an even easier reason to come back. Here's what's waiting for you, no matter when you visit.
Spring The Bay Wakes Up - As the ice clears off Anchor Bay, downtown starts filling back in. Shop windows freshen up for the season and patios reopen along Main and Washington Streets. By the Sunday after Memorial Day, the New Baltimore Farmers Market is back on Washington Street the first sure sign that a full season of waterfront living has returned.
Summer Downtown Comes Alive - Summer is when New Baltimore really shows off. The Bay-Rama Fishfly Festival takes over Walter & Mary Burke Park in June with fireworks over the water and a full weekend of festival energy named, fittingly, for the swarms of harmless fish flies that signal a healthy bay, and easy to reach by boat or on foot. Wednesday evenings from June through September bring the free Midweek Music Concert Series to the same waterfront park, and Sunday mornings mean Yoga in the Park with Lake St. Clair as the backdrop. Add in the Farmers Market running every Sunday and a downtown full of open patios, and there's a reason to be downtown practically every day of the week.
Fall Festival Season on the Bay - September belongs to Countryfest, downtown's biggest end-of-summer send-off at Walter & Mary Burke Park, with national touring acts and a full weekend of music, food, and community. As the leaves turn, families head downtown for Trick-or-Treat Downtown New Baltimore, a Halloween tradition along Washington Street, while the Farmers Market wraps its season in mid-October with the last of the local harvest.
Winter Cozy Up on the Bay - New Baltimore doesn't hide from winter it throws a party for it. Each February, the New Baltimore Lions Club's Winterfest takes over downtown for a weekend of cornhole, live music, a beer tent, kids' activities, and the Polar Plunge into the bay for charity. Outside of festival weekends, winter is the season for slower visits: cozy dinners, holiday shopping at locally owned storefronts, and a downtown that's just as charming dusted in snow.
